Using Sprite Software’s Backup Utilities On Your PAC Mate

ABSTRACT
This document will briefly describe how to use Sprite Software’s Pocket Backup and Pocket Backup Plus utilities to backup all of one’s PAC Mate files to a compact flash card and later, restore this information to a PAC Mate which, for some reason, has been subjected to a hard reset

FILE BACKUP

The program offers a number of customizable options which control how the PAC Mate is Backed up, but this document will only provide the most basic instructions. You may wish to explore the utility’s features at your leisure, however, very basic directions are contained below.

  1. Using File Explorer, go into this folder and arrow down until you hear the Pocket Backup application and press enter. The application will run without any problem.
  2. You will be given the opportunity to authorize the software. If you do not authorize it immediately, it will run as a demo for 10 days. Tab through the list box until you find the tabs and move to the Backup tab. Tab to the backup button and press enter. The PAC Mate will be backed up to a .exe file which will be entitled “Backup_yyyy-dd-dd” where yyyy equals the year in which the unit was backed up and dd-dd equals the month and day in numeric format on which you’ve backed up the unit.

  4. Press the files button. PAC Mate simply calls this button “button, dot, dot, dot.”

  6. Tab to the files list view and select your backup file.
  7. Press enter.
  8. Press tab once to reach the File edit field and check that the filename in the field is the one you want to restore from.
  9. Tab to the Restore button and press enter.
  10. Pocket Backup will announce the file it is restoring from. Tab to the Start Button and press enter.
  11. The unit will be silent as the restore process takes place. The PAC Mate will announce that Windows For Pocket PC must reset in order to complete the restoration process. Press enter on OK.
